The feather-stitch family encompasses several stitches, including the single feather stitch, the (regular) feather stitch, and the long-arm feather stitch (also called the Cretan or quill stitch). The single feather stitch is similar to the blanket stitch. The only difference is that the stitches are slanted instead of being straight.
Instructions:
1. Before start stitching it is easier two draw to parallel lines. You can work from left to right, from top to bottom or the opposite. Bring the needle in front through point (1).
2. Move the needle vertically downwards and pass it from front to back through point (2). Do not pull too tight, to leave a small loop.
3. Bring the needle in front through point (3) and pass it through the loop.
4. Pull gently to create the first stitch.
5. Move the needle vertically downwards and pass it from front to back through point (4) and from back to front through point (5) passing the needle through the loop. Pull gently to shape the second feather stitch.
5. Move the needle vertically downwards and pass it from front to back through point (6) and from back to front through point (7) passing the needle through the loop. Pull gently to shape the third feather stitch.
Continue in this way until you complete the row.
