Pattern design using a grid of squares I

One of the most common techniques to draw a seamless pattern is by using a grid of squares. Follow the step by step procedure to draw a diamond shape pattern.

1. Draw a grid of squares.

2. Add the red lines to create a diamond shape pattern.

3. Add the blue lines.

4. Repeat the pattern horizontally.

5. Add the green lines to enrich the pattern. 

6. Try to isolate the basic pattern. This will help you develop further the overal result and add more detail. 

7. Erase the grid lines.

8. Experiment with different color schemes.
