The project is really very easy. All you need is a power drill to open the holes and a beach driftwood piece.

 To make the holes, use a regular multipurpose small-diameter drill bit. The drill bit should go in straight, using a steady pressure. Make 2 pairs of holes.

You also need a cord or a thin strap to wrap around the button. 
Fold the fabric half lengthwise to find the middle. Attatch the button to the fabric with six strand thread.
