Zandra Rhodes' major area of study was printed textile design. However her early designs were considered too outrageous by the traditional British manufactures, so Zandra decided to make her own dresses from her own fabrics and pioneered the very special use of printed textiles as an intrinsic part of the garments she created.
Since the turn of the millennium, Zandra's career took an even more diversified step when she began designing sets and costumes for opera. From San Diego to San Francisco, the Houston Grand Opera to the English Grand Opera, Zandra Rhodes' talent in lavish theatrical design has seen her work in opera houses around the world. In 2010 the British designer introduced a handbag range. As you can imagine, Zandra's handbag design exploits are as compelling, intriguing and desirable as her textiles and jewellery.
Eliza handbags by Zandra Rodhes handbags and accessories
Eliza is a new bag from Zandra Rhodes that oozes style. It comes in three cool prints:
- ‘Faces’, a stylised fashion drawing of a sleeping woman.
- ‘Swiggle’, a monochrome rendition of Zandra’s iconic pattern.
- ‘Safetypin’, a criss crossed pattern of beads and safety pins that draws on Zandra’s punk designs.
Though it’s small, Eliza is amazingly spacious, with front and back pockets, and a hinged snap opening that makes it easy to fit things in. There are also two inside pockets and a gorgeous gold box chain, so it’s easy to carry around with you.
